Student Gallery
Welcome to our student gallery! This gallery is very much a work in progress, as I am no website expert, to say the least. There will be more images posted in the near future. The work you see below was done by students at various workshops since July 2008 at my Armadale studio. Thankyou very much to my students for allowing me to reproduce your wonderful work here.
The first images you see are our 'before and after' self portraits. On the first day of class students complete a self portrait as a record of their drawing skills at that time. On the last day, students complete another self portrait, this time using all of the skills they have learnt during the week. The difference between the two portraits is really fascinating, and shows how each student actually approaches the problem of drawing in a much different way on the last day than on the first.

The images below are photos of students' work, showing some or all of the exercises completed in the five day workshops. The workshop progresses from an upside down drawing, to a drawing of the student's hand, a negative space drawing of a chair, a perspective drawing of a room and a portrait of a fellow student, to the final self portrait. All of these exercises involve periods of intense concentration, which actually becomes alot like meditation- you lose all sense of time passing and are fully focussed in the moment.
